David Elias

David Elias (* 3. December 1956 in Prague ) is a Swiss jazz - drummer .

Elias, who has lived in Switzerland since 1968, studied at the Swiss Jazz School (diploma 1979). He began his career with bands such as the Swiss Jazz Quintet and Mani Planzer's big band , with Pony Poindexter and Vince Benedetti in Switzerland, before continuing his work in Germany with Bob Degen and Zipflo Reinhardt . He was increasingly in bands around Joe Haider , in whose jazz school in Munich he also worked as a teacher. Then he worked with numerous musicians such as Hannibal Marvin Peterson , Archie Shepp , Buddy DeFranco , Woody Shaw , Heinz Sauer , Aki Takase , Franco Ambrosetti , Clifford Jordan or the Great Guitars feat. Herb Ellis and Charlie Byrd . Later he also played hot jazz , especially as a member of the Swiss Dixie Stompers and accompanied guest soloists such as John Barnes, Doc Cheatham , Peanuts Hucko and Beryl Bryden . He performed at the festivals in Montreux , Detroit, Burghausen and Lugano . He also formed the Friends 4 Friends group with Wegen Wüthrich , Franz Biffiger and Michel Poffet ; There was also regular collaboration with Max Neissendorfer , Marianna Polistena, Sandy Patton , Theo Kapilidis and bands around the guitarist Stephan Urwyler and Caribey . He is currently also working with the Swing Kids and in the Chantemoiselle group ; he also works as a drum teacher.
