David Hill (producer)

David Hill (born May 21, 1946 in Newcastle , New South Wales ) is an Australian television producer who was President of Fox Sports Networks and Executive Vice President of 21st Century Fox from 1993 to 2000 .

Career

Hill was born in Newcastle in 1946. He started out as a copyboy at the Sydney Daily Telegraph and was later responsible for the sports section. David Hill's television career began in 1989 with the British broadcaster Sky Television . David Hill was brought to US broadcaster Fox Sports by Rupert Murdoch in 1993. They secured the broadcasting rights for the NFL in 1994 and have been pioneers ever since, thanks to Hill's innovations, as he made the first-down line on the field graphically integrated. In the broadcasts of the NHL , the puck was highlighted graphically during ice hockey games. Furthermore, the score and the de times of the games or lap times at NASCAR were permanently displayed. In 1997 he was named President of Fox Sports and two years later Chairman of Fox Sports Media. He left 21st Century Fox in July 2015 and dedicated himself to his own production company, Hilly Inc., which focuses on live television events. He and his company have been responsible for broadcasting the Electronic Sports League games since 2017 .

He received a Sports Emmy Award for television production for the 2011 World Series .

David Hill was the producer for the 88th Academy Awards with Reginald Hudlin . For this he was nominated for an Emmy together with Reginald Hudlin, Michael B. Seligman and Chris Rock .

In addition to the sports broadcasts, he was also responsible for the productions The X Factor and American Idol .
