David James Oakley (born November 28, 1955 in Stourbridge , United Kingdom ) is a British clergyman and Roman Catholic Bishop of Northampton .

Life

After studying philosophy and Catholic theology at St Mary's College , Oscott , David James Oakley received the sacrament of ordination on July 5, 1980 from the Archbishop of Birmingham , George Patrick Dwyer . He received his PhD in pastoral theology from the University of Hull . Oakley also holds a degree in Catholic theology from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and a master's degree from the Maryvale Institute .

David James Oakley then served as parish vicar in the parish of Saint Patrick in Birmingham before he became parish vicar in the parish of Corpus Christi in Wolverhampton in 1982 . From 1985 to 1988 he was parish vicar in the parish of Saint Peter Apostle in Royal Leamington Spa . Oakley then became pastor of Saint Joseph's parish in Whitnash . David James Oakley was pastor of Christ the King in Kingstanding Parish from 1992 to 1999 and pastor of St. Giles Parish in Cheadle from 1999 to 2003 . In 2003, Oakley became pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish . In parallel to his pastoral work, he taught at the Department of Family and Catechesis at the Maryvale Institute in Birmingham. Since 2013 was David James Oakley rain the seminary Saint Mary's College in Oscott and also since 2016 a member of the Cathedral Chapter of St Chad's Cathedral in Birmingham.

On January 8, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Northampton. The Archbishop of Westminster , Vincent Nichols Cardinal , gave him on 19 March of the same year in the Cathedral of Northampton , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Birmingham, Bernard Longley , and the Bishop Emeritus of Northampton, Peter John Haworth Doyle .
