David Anthony Sacco (born July 31, 1971 in Malden , Massachusetts ) is a former American ice hockey player , who was active during his active career for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the National Hockey League . His older brother Joe was also active in the NHL.
Career
David Sacco began his active career in high school with the Medford High Mustangs , for which he was active from 1987 to 1988. He then went to Boston University and played ice hockey for the Boston University Terriers team in Hockey East for the next five years . During this time, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 in the tenth round at a total of 195th position by the Toronto Maple Leafs . In the 1993/94 season Sacco completed his first games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League and scored two points in four games . In the same season, the attacker was also in five games for their farm team, the St. John's Maple Leafs in the American Hockey League in action scored four points in five games.
On September 28, 1994 Sacco was given in a barter to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , in return Terry Yake went to Toronto. The offensive player spent most of the season with the San Diego Gulls in the International Hockey League and was one of the team's top performers with 40 points in 49 games. In the 1995/96 season Sacco received more ice age at the Mighty Ducks and completed 23 NHL games, in which he got 14 points. In the same season he was also with the Baltimore Bandits in the American Hockey League in use. After his contract with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim was not renewed, Sacco signed on September 6, 1996 as a free agent with the New York Islanders . Since he was denied another jump to the NHL, the right-shooter spent the season with the Baltimore Bandits. For the 1997-98 season , he signed with the SC Bern in the National League A . After he had scored a total of 17 points for the Bernese in 16 games, Sacco ended his active career in the 1997 calendar year.
International
Sacco took with Team USA at the World Cup in 1993 in part. He also represented his home country at the 1994 Winter Olympics .
