Davis Matthew Webb (* 22. January 1995 in Prosper , Texas ) is an American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He plays for the Buffalo Bills as a quarterback .

High school

Webb attended Prosper High School in his hometown and led his school as a starting quarterback to the District Championship and the Texas Championship semifinals. During this time, Webb also garnered several Texas State All-Team Awards. By the end of high school, Webb had 2,658 passing yards, 589 rushing yards, and 36 touchdowns.

college

In 2013, Texas Tech University secured Webb's signature. In total, Webb played for the Texas Tech Red Raiders for three years . In the first year he was still a backup quarterback, also because he lost 20 kilograms in weight due to an illness before the season. Starting quarterback, meanwhile, was Baker Mayfield , who was selected by the Cleveland Browns in first place in the 2018 NFL draft .

The following year Webb was starting quarterback and threw passes over 2,839 yards and 26 touchdowns in the next two seasons . Patrick Mahomes was Webb's replacement quarterback for the 2014 season . In the 2015 season, Webb was replaced by Mahomes as a starter on the quarterback position.

Webb made his final breakthrough in 2016 after moving to the University of California . In 12 games he threw passes over 4,295 yards and 37 touchdowns at 12 interceptions .

NFL

Davis Webb was selected by the New York Giants in the third round in the third round in the 2017 NFL Draft . He signed a four-year contract worth $ 3.53 million including a signing bonus of almost $ 800,000. Webb served as the third quarterback behind Eli Manning and Geno Smith for the 2017 season and was primarily on the Practice Squad . As part of the final squad reduction to 53 players before the start of the season, Webb was dismissed by the Giants in 2018, whereupon he signed with the New York Jets , where he was initially in the Practice Squad. In March 2019, he received a one-year contract with the New York Jets for $ 645,000.
