Dawid Lubowicz (born December 17, 1981 in Zakopane , Poland) is a Polish jazz musician ( violin , composition , arrangement ).

Lubowicz comes from a family of musicians from Zakopane. He studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and is director of the Lubowicz Jazz Quartet and the East Wall Jazz Quartet . He has been recognized with both groups at numerous jazz festivals and competitions. He is also a founding member of the Atom String Quartet , with which he has been interpreting jazz compositions since 2010. Several albums by the string quartet have been released since 2011 , including Seifert in 2017 , a tribute to Zbigniew Seifert and most recently Penderecki , as well as collaborations ( e.g. with Zakopower or with Vladyslav Sendecki ). The Atom String Quartet was awarded a Fryderyk in 2012.

In 2018 Lubowicz released Inside, a first album under his own name. Eight original compositions by himself and a work by Karol Szymanowski were recorded in a quartet with the pianist Krzysztof Herdzin (who also plays the flute and accordion), the bassist Robert Kubiszyn and the drummer Łukasz Żyta.

Lubowicz can also be heard on albums by Daniel Bloom / Leszek Możdżer , Marcin Nowakowski, Grażyna Auguścik as well as Kayah and Dorota Miśkiewicz. He also worked with musicians such as Mino Cinelu , Lars Danielsson , Krzesimir Dębski , Urszula Dudziak , Zohar Fresco , Paolo Fresu , Gil Goldstein , Wolfgang Haffner , Anna Maria Jopek , Christian von Kaphengst , Natalia Kukulska , Jerzy Maksymiuk , Branford Marsalis , Bobby McFerrin , Grzech Piotrowski, Vladislav Sendecki , Rupert Stamm , Elżbieta Wojnowska or Aga Zaryan .

Lubowicz is also active as an arranger and composer and also writes drama music. Together with his brother, he wrote the music for the production of the Roma musical theater Pilots .
