Grażyna Auguścik

Grażyna Auguścik (born August 17, 1955 in Słupsk ) is a Polish jazz musician ( vocals , composition ).

Act

Auguścik graduated from the music school in her hometown, where she studied classical guitar. Then she took private singing lessons in Krakow and Warsaw. In 1977 she first appeared in public. In 1988 she moved to the United States, where she graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1992. First she appeared with Michał Urbaniak and Urszula Dudziak , then also with Jim Hall , Michael Brecker , Randy Brecker , John Medeski , Leni Stern , Rachel Z , Paul Wertico , Bobby Enriquez , Terry Callier , John McLean , Kurt Rosenwinkel , Dawid Lubowicz and Robert Irving III . She can also be heard on albums by Patricia Barber , Fernando Huergo / Jacques Schwarz-Bart / Luciana Souza and the Cracow Klezmer Band and on joint productions with Włodzimierz Kiniorski and Urszula Dudziak. In 2012 she released Man Behind the Sun, a memorial album with songs by Nick Drake .

In 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006 she was the best jazz vocalist for Jazz Forum magazine .
