action

Attorney Charlie Deegan hires beautiful Laura Stewart as a secretary. At a party, the two get closer and start an affair. However, Charlie cannot divorce his wealthy wife Olivia without suffering financial disadvantages. He is bound to his wife by a legally “watertight” marriage contract.

Charlie and Laura therefore plan the perfect murder, but initially fail because Charlie fails to get a stolen car, the origin of which cannot be traced back to him. To cover up the tracks and to keep the affair with Laura a secret, Charlie seduces his old friend Victoria Haines. Laura is angry at first, but ultimately accepts this diversion.

The day of execution of the plans is approaching; a weekend spent with Victoria is supposed to secure an alibi for Charlie. He is later summoned to identify his dead wife. He is surprised to find that the dead woman is not Olivia but Laura. Olivia has disappeared without a trace.

It turns out that Laura was married. Her ex-husband blackmailed Charlie and confessed to killing Laura. Charlie then shoots him. At the end of the film, Olivia appears, who had seen through the game. Her knowledge of the true facts binds Charlie to her beyond the marriage contract.

Reviews

“Lame crime comedy with a confused plot that cannot deny its proximity to the television soap opera and mixes all the well-known ingredients of the genre. The soundtrack is just as unmistakable as it is awkwardly eavesdropped on the Pink Panther films. "

"Optically stylish, dramaturgically so-so."
