Dear America - Letters from Vietnam (Original title: Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam ) is an American documentary directed by Bill Couturié from 1987 about the Vietnam War .

The film shows authentic footage from the Vietnam War, including some amateur footage of US soldiers . In addition, original letters from the American GIs to their homeland are read out by well-known US actors who connect the general war with the sometimes tragic individual fates.
