Deanery Retz

The deanery comprises 14 parishes and a branch in the Weinviertel in northern Lower Austria with around 9,500 Catholics

Diocesan development process

On November 29, 2015, development areas were defined for all parishes in the Archdiocese of Vienna. The parishes should work more closely together in the development areas, form parish associations or pastoral care rooms. At the end of the process, new parishes should emerge from the development areas. The following development rooms have been defined in the Retz dean's office:

• Kleinhöflein, Mitterretzbach, Obernalb, Retz, Unterstalb, Unterretzbach and Kleinriedenthal
• Deinzendorf, Obermarkersdorf, Platt, Pulkau, Schrattenthal, Waitzendorf, Watzelsdorf and Zellerndorf
  • Subunit 1: Deinzendorf, Platt, Schrattenthal, Watzelsdorf and Zellerndorf
  • Subunit 2: Obermarkersdorf, Pulkau and Waitzendorf
