Delrath is a district in the city of Dormagen and belongs to the Rhine district of Neuss .

location

Delrath is a partly still agricultural village that begins to the west at the former carpentry workshop Kürten, Bismarckstraße, and goes to the former zinc smelter in the east. The former village of Werkssiedlung Zinkhütte including the Nackenhof is now a desert without the Nackenhof and can be added to Delrath, including the Silbersee. In the north, the village of Delrath begins with the farm road about at the height of the Nackenhof. In the south, the motorway service stations east and west belong to the place and further to the site of the former clay factory, terminated by the federal motorway A 57.

history

Various archaeological finds reveal the first human traces as early as 4,000 BC. Trace back to BC. It cannot be proven whether there was already a settlement here.

Middle Ages
The place Delrath was probably built between 900 and 1300. The place name was originally called Dahlrath , which means something like clearing of the valley. Delhoven has a similar name. On February 7th, 1263 Marsilius and Amilius von Didenrode are mentioned as witnesses in a sales contract. Since the 14th century the place belonged to the cologne Dingstuhl Hülchrath .

Modern times in
1663 Delrath consisted of 13 houses and farms. In 1794 the French troops occupied the Rhineland . Delrath was now part of the municipality of Zons in the canton of Zons. In 1798 Delrath came to Mairie Nievenheim in the canton of Dormagen in the Département de la Roer . In 1815 Delrath came to the Kingdom of Prussia and in 1816 to the municipality and mayor's office of Nievenheim in the Neuss district . In 1927 the mayor's office in Nievenheim was renamed to Amt Nievenheim . Since January 1st, 1975 Delrath is part of the city of Dormagen . In 1985 Delrath was recognized as a district and since 1989 this has been indicated by its own place name signs. In the southern part of Delrath, several blocks of flats with cheap rental apartments were built, which led to a significant increase in the number of residents, but also to social problems. Since 1990 the city of Dormagen has endeavored to unite the districts of Delrath and Nievenheim. Therefore, Delrath's citizens were forced to finance their new village square themselves.
