Déportivo is a French rock band from Paris that was formed in 2003.
history
Beginnings
The heart of the band are singer Jérôme Coudanne, bassist Richard Magnac and drummer Julien Bonnet, who met at the local elementary school in their hometown of Bois-d'Arcy at the age of seven . While Jérôme and Richard were about 13 years old in the 1989–90 school year, Julien was a class or two with them. The band name was based on the names of Spanish football clubs.
In the summer of 2003 the group had the opportunity to play in the "House Of Live" near the Champs-Élysée, which was very popular with representatives of all the major record labels. On this concert it rained offers. Ultimately, the group chose Barclay and Yapucca .
2004
After their first successes on stage, the band released their first EP La Salade in autumn 2004 . Their first album Parmi Eux was released in May 2004. They then became the opening act for the Wampas and played 140 concerts within a very short time. Her own tour was also sold out. As opening act for the well-known French group Louise Attaque , they played in the most prestigious shops in the country, such as the Zénith (Paris) and the Grand Rex . Parmi Eux sold 60,000 times.
2007
Their second album Déportivo was produced by Gordon Raphaël (producer of the Strokes ) and Yann Madec. The fourth track on the record, Les Bières aujourd'hui s'ouvrent manualement , is a cover of the track of the same name by Christophe Miossec . Arnaud Samuel from Louise Attaque plays the violin here. Their tour was sold out again. In the summer of 2008 they had the opportunity to play in front of 20,000 people. The album entered the top 30 of the French charts. The live DVD is available for free download.
2011
The third album Ivres & Débutants was produced by Gaëtan Roussel . Over 70 concerts followed. Philippe Almosnino from the Wampas , Vincent David from Garbo and Cédric le Roux strengthen the group during their appearances. The live DVD is also available for free download here.
2013
The fourth album, called Domino , was released on October 14, 2013. This is the first album that the group has produced completely independently. They founded their own label Titanic Records. The label's name alludes to the musicians on the Titanic who played until the last minute of the sinking.
style
The group's texts are fragmentary and play with the associations of the audience. Hints and interruptions leave the opportunity for various interpretations. Excursions into English add charming indie rock accents.
Musically, the group processes influences from Louise Attaque , The Clash , The Velvet Underground , Manu Chao , Mano Negra , Miossec , Sloy, Les Thugs , Pixies , Jeff Buckley , Nirvana , The Doors and Noir Désir .
