action

In 1972 came in a plane crash of Eastern Air Lines flight 401 into the Everglades in the US state of Florida 103 passengers lost their lives. The flight engineer Dom Cimoli was also among the victims. On later flights by the airline, rumors of apparitions of his ghost on board increase. The spirit of Cimolis tries to warn the crew and passengers of a fire in the aircraft.

background

The underlying bestselling novel for the film by John G. Fuller is based on true events regarding the flight and crash of the Lockheed L-1011 Tristar .

In contrast to the novel, which speaks of two ghosts, only the ghost of the flight engineer Cimoli appears in the film.

The film first aired on NBC on February 18, 1978 . Only a few years later, on June 21, 1987, was the first broadcast in Germany.
