The Bloody Path of God 2 ( The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day ) from 2009 is an American black-humor action thriller from writer and director Troy Duffy . It is the sequel to the 1999 film The Bloody Path of God .

action

The MacManus brothers Connor and Murphy live a withdrawn life as shepherds together with their father for 8 years after their public execution of the Mafia boss Don Poppa Joe Yakavetta. They are lured to Boston by the murder of a priest in the same modus operandi . During the crossing the brothers get to know Romeo, who wants to join them. The regained mafia in the form of Concezio Yakavetta has plans for revenge for the murders eight years ago. Yakavetta wants to avenge his father, whom the brothers and their father executed in the courtroom. Boston Homicide Police officers are concerned about the crime, believing that the crime can be traced back to the brothers they helped kill 8 years ago.

In the investigation of the Boston police, the FBI interferes in the form of Special Agent Eunice Bloom and realizes that the murder should be attached to the Saints . During the investigation, she discovers that the perpetrator is a free rider and that the real murderer is Ottilio Panza.

First of all, the brothers want to set an example and storm a warehouse belonging to the triads, in which heroin that belongs to the yakavettas is handled. When Agent Bloom later investigates the crime scene, she discovers for everyone that the Saints are back in Boston.

After the brothers blackmailed one of Yakavetta's underbosses into ordering a retinue into a bar, they kill them. Ottilio Panza, the priest's murderer, wants to kill the brothers on this occasion, following instructions from a stranger on the phone, but is driven to flight by Agent Bloom. Bloom introduces herself to the brothers as the successor to Paul Smecker, an FBI agent who helped the brothers in the first part. After that, Bloom, Romeo and the two brothers change the scene of the crime so that it doesn't look like the Saints, but a pub shootout between two warring clans.

Yakavetta has gathered the members of his clan in a hotel room to swear them to the battle against the Saints. They are surprised by the Saints who, again with the help of the three Boston detectives, were able to gain access. Except for one underboss who can escape into the Panic Room , all members are killed. During the subsequent interrogation of the negotiator, Bloom learns of the "Old Man" or "the Roman", but is withdrawn from the case and suspended.

Later in a bar, the brothers want to celebrate their appearance with the policemen, but are surprised by Panza, who shoots Detective Greenly and forces him to lay down his arms by taking the pub owner hostage. Noah, the brothers' father, helps them by overpowering Panza. In order to find out the whereabouts of the "old man" from him, Noah plays Russian roulette against Panza ; Panza doesn't tell him anything before Noah shoots him in the head, however .

Noah explains to his sons that the old man (Louie) was his partner before he betrayed him to the police. Now Noah wants to take revenge on his former partner and learns his whereabouts from Bloom. To do this, she accesses an FBI database, knowing that she will then have to go into hiding because this access will be discovered. There is a race to see who gets to Louie first: the Saints or the police.

Louie awaits the arrival of the Saints in an old greenhouse and has hidden numerous armed men in the area. First, Louie and Noah talk about why one betrayed the other. Louie signals the men to attack the Saints. The Saints are all wounded in the battle, Noah so badly that he later dies. However, he shoots Louie first. When the brothers leave the building, the police are waiting for them. They surrender and are arrested.

Bloom meets with Sibeal, who wants to get her out of the country for her own protection. In doing so, she discovers that Sibeal has worked with Smecker and that Smecker has built a network to support the Saints. Smecker also tells Bloom about his plan to free the Saints.

Noah's story is told in flashbacks throughout the film. How he, with his friend Louis, did an apprenticeship as a saddler in the post-war period and his teacher became a kind of foster father for him. Until he was murdered by mafiosi for lack of protection money.

He made a leather vest with a 6-way holster, Louis organized six weapons for him. His first target was the mafia member who killed his teacher. It seemed that Noah liked it and went about it with increasing passion. Here he shared the work with Louis, who scouted out the Mafiosi and lured them into the trap in which Noah killed them. This lasted until Louis found out about the birth of Noah's sons and then betrayed them.

Reviews

"Belated successor to a vigilante action film made ten years earlier: a questionable martial action comedy with only a few sparkling gags."
