action

Dr. Adrian Weynfeldt is finished: he writes a farewell letter to his housekeeper and wants to shoot himself. Shortly before, however, he wants to drink a martini from his minibar, but notices that he has no more olives in the house. He ends the evening in his regular bar, where he drinks martinis and meets young Lorena. He invites her to drink and they both end up in his luxurious apartment. Shortly after the arrival, the drunk Lorena fell asleep soundly. The next morning the place next to Adrian in the bed is empty. He discovers Lorena on the outer balcony railing. He tries to dissuade her from suicide, but she asks him to give her just one plausible reason for not jumping. He couldn't utter a word, but began to cry. She turns around and leaves shortly afterwards. When he asked how he could reach her, she only replied that she would reach him.

A short time later, Adrian receives a call from her because she was caught stealing in a luxury boutique. She had tried to smuggle a dress in her pocket from the store. On the phone she pretends to be Adrian as her boyfriend and he plays along and buys her a number of other clothes in addition to the stolen dress. He cannot understand her surprised reaction, and he also helped her because she asked him to. Other people also keep asking Adrian for things. Painter Rolf Strasser receives a large sum from him to rediscover his creativity on an island in the south, while Dr. Klaus Baier by Adrian the painting Femme nue devant une salamandre by Félix Vallotton be sold will. Adrian soon realizes that the picture is a good fake and learns that Klaus is attached to the original, but still needs a lot of money and therefore wanted to sell the fake. He is still of the opinion that Adrian should simply put the wrong painting up for auction, because even an expert like Adrian can hardly tell the difference. Klaus brings both the original and the forgery with Adrian and lets him decide which painting to put up for auction in the end.

Because of the new clothes, Lorena's ex-boyfriend Theo Pedroni realizes that her new boyfriend must be wealthy. He tests Adrian's generosity and pretends that Lorena owes him 5,000 Swiss francs . Adrian pays immediately and Theo and Lorena develop a plan to take more money from Adrian. Lorena loves Adrian, but she also wants to travel to Brazil for further development. Both now pretend that Theo is a debt collector and Lorena still owes him 120,000 francs. Adrian pays this sum as well without hesitation. Before Lorena, he justified his actions, among other things, with the fact that she reminded him so much of his late ex Daphne. Klaus knows Adrian's naive streak and persuades Lorena to make a deal: she should get Adrian to put the fake up for auction at the end of the day. If you do it, you will receive 50,000 francs. Klaus again has his own agreement with Adrian: The sum, which is over 1.6 million francs in the auction, will be paid out to Adrian by Klaus.

Félix Vallotton - Femme nue devant une salamandre

Adrian's life changes under Lorena's influence. He becomes more active and is now finally clearing the room of his dominant mother, who died five years ago, in order to turn the room into a fitness room. In addition, Lorena's attempts to finally dare something and put the fake in the auction don't rest. He secretly edits the forgery so that an obvious mistake disappears. Before Lorena, however, he claims that the striking change that every vain counterfeiter makes to his forgery has not yet been found in the fake Vallotton. The auction preparation begins some time later and Rolf Strasser is also in the house to inspect the pictures to be acquired. He explains to Lorena that the Vallotton is a fake and shows her the decisive difference to the original. Lorena, in turn, accidentally indicates to Theo that the Vallotton of the auction is fake. In the auction, the picture goes to an anonymous bidder whom Adrian has on the phone and who wins the bid for 4.1 million francs. Klaus only pays him 2 million francs, because he never expected such high proceeds. Theo, on the other hand, uses the opportunity to extort a million francs from Adrian, who knowingly had a fake auctioned off. From his bench, Adrian surveillance camera recordings are played, which show Lorena and Theo hugging each other in front of the bench and kissing. He realizes that he was used. Adrian brings Lorena to him, shows her the million and lets her touch it. He then spends a night with her, but treats her like a prostitute. In the end, he doesn't want to take her phone number either, he'll get in touch with her. Lorena is disappointed and ashamed.

Adrian gives Theo the million and reports him to the police shortly afterwards. Theo is arrested. Adrian, on the other hand, is back to the point where he wants to kill himself. He's just loading his pistol when Lorena rings the doorbell. She admits that she only wanted to exclude him because he makes it far too easy for people. She returns her shares in all deals to him. Klaus dies suddenly and Rolf hopes to be able to take the real Vallotton, but only finds the fake. He realizes that he underestimated Adrian. He finances Lorena's trip to Brazil. He himself retires to his training room - where he has placed the real Vallotton opposite the treadmill, which he bought for himself at the auction.
