Descending is a Greek melodic death and thrash metal band from Athens that was formed in 2007.

history

After guitarist Constantine was briefly active with Nightrage in 2007 , he went back to Athens to found Descending there that same year. Other members were the singer Jon Simvonis and the guitarist Theo. After they recorded the first demo songs together, Antony joined the cast as a drummer, who had been a student of Nile member George Kollias . The line-up was completed with bassist Noir. Then the band went to Kempten to record their debut album under the direction of Mystic Prophecy singer Roberto Dimitri Liapakis , which was released at the end of July 2008 under the name Enter Annihilation on Massacre Records . In Japan the album was released on Spiritual Beast Records . Due to the success of the album, Constantine was also able to be active with Mystic Prophecy. He was also active as a solo artist and with Nightfall . The release was followed by appearances at the Rocking Athens Festival and the Serbian Exit Festival in 2009. The band also played with bands such as Heaven and Hell , Blind Guardian , Testament , Gojira , The Haunted , Shadows Fall , Neaera and Lamb of God . At the end of October 2011, the second album New Death Celebrity followed.

style

According to laut.de , the band plays a mixture of Thrash and Death Metal , which is stylistically based on the works of At the Gates and old Soilwork . According to Jan Fleckhaus, the band plays a “mixture of Death Metal, Thrash Metal and epic choruses” on Enter Annihilation , some of which are sung clearly. Fleckhaus recommended the music to friends of melodic death metal bands such as Nightrage, The Duskfall and Children of Bodom . In his review of New Death Celebrity , Fleckhaus wrote that the band played uninspired, modern day Thrash Metal. As with the previous song, the vocals remind of groups like At the Gares and Korn .
