The Karl-Kübel-Schule (own spelling Karl Kübel Schule , short: KKS ) is a vocational school with upper secondary level in Bensheim , Hesse . It is named after the entrepreneur and philanthropist Karl Kübel .

history

The Karl-Kübel-Schule has its historical origins in an advanced training school founded in 1874. The founder of this school was the former Bensheim trade association . As a result, the school offered evening courses for young businesspeople before the vocational school was founded in 1920 .

The school has been at its current address since 1978. After extensive renovation from 1990 to 1992, it was renamed to Karl-Kübel-Schule in 1995. It is named after the German entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder Karl Kübel, who founded the Karl Kübel Foundation for Children and Family in 1978 .

On October 29, 2001, an intercultural day of action for more tolerance, moral courage and solidarity was organized at the Karl Kübel School . The day of action is a milestone in the long-term student project School without Racism - School with Courage , the school was awarded by the Comenius Institute in Münster .

In the following years the school was expanded and renewed with several new buildings. A new sports hall was built in 2008, a new part of the building with 21 additional classrooms opened in 2011 and a multifunctional building with a cafeteria was built in 2013 .

With its upper level , the Karl-Kübel-Schule is one of five grammar schools in Bensheim.

A school medical service has existed since June 2014 , in which pupils are trained as school paramedics by the Johanniter -Jugend Bergstraße-Pfalz. There are three cell phones with which the paramedics and the Bergstrasse control center in Heppenheim can communicate directly with each other.

From 2017, the geriatric nursing school and the Bergstrasse health academy will also be located at the school site.

Educational offer

The Karl-Kübel-Schule offers different educational paths. On the one hand, the students have the option of dual training at the vocational school . On the other hand, a one-year or two-year vocational school can be completed. In addition, there is a technical college, with the completion of which the technical college entrance qualification can be obtained. At the vocational high school of the Karl-Kübel-Schule, the Abitur can be achieved with a general higher education entrance qualification . Since the school year 2008/09, bilingual lessons in business studies have been held. The vocational high school also offers a student exchange with China.
