Detlev Fischer (judge)

Detlev Fischer (born February 22, 1950 in Göttingen ) is a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH).

Life

Detlev Fischer is a son of the longstanding BGH President Robert Fischer . After graduating from the Markgrafen-Gymnasium in Karlsruhe and completing basic military service , Fischer began studying law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in 1971 , where he passed his first state examination in 1975. After the Second State Exam in 1977, he was in 1981 in Freiburg with one of Hans Stoll supervised work on the penalty Dr. iur. PhD. In 1979 he joined the judicial service of the state of Baden-Württemberg . There he initially worked in Baden-Baden at the district court , regional court and the public prosecutor's office, after being seconded to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant from 1989 to 1992 at the Karlsruhe regional court, among others . In 1995 he was appointed judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court and worked in a civil senate that was mainly concerned with broker and transport law matters. In 2002 he was appointed chairman of a chamber for commercial matters at the Karlsruhe Regional Court.

On November 10, 2005 he was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice. He was a member of the 9th civil senate responsible for insolvency law and for legal disputes over claims for damages against lawyers and tax advisors . He retired at the end of June 2015 after reaching the age limit.

Fischer, who also studied history as a minor , is chairman of the Legal History Museum Association and author of numerous legal historical publications, particularly on the history of the judiciary in Baden. He is a lecturer for civil law at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences .

Fischer is married and has four children.
