The EBC Eisenbahnbetriebs- and Consulting GmbH (formerly Westphalian Alme Valley Railway Ltd. (WAB) ) is a German railway company based in Altenbeken which as railway companies , especially in the rail freight pressed. It has been licensed for rail passenger and freight transport since 1998.

history

In the past few years, WAB or its owner has founded several subsidiaries and sister companies such as the Eisenbahn-Betriebs-Gesellschaft (EBG, later Klützer Kleinbahn ), which were later integrated into WAB. Most vehicles are now operated by Deutsche Privatbahn GmbH (DP) based in Hameln , but WAB is still the owner and adjuster. On December 13, 2010, WAB was renamed to EBC Eisenbahnbetriebs- und Consulting GmbH , which also pursues trading in rail vehicles as a corporate object.

Rail freight transport

WAB is currently primarily transporting cement clinker from Geseke and Paderborn to Königs Wusterhausen , Dornburg / Saale and Kattowitz, as well as transporting lime fertilizers .

On the morning of November 29, 2000, a company wooden train derailed at Haspelmoor station ( Augsburg – Munich line ) due to several errors by the driver and technical defects. As early as October 2000, a wagon master at Simbach station declared the majority of the company's wagons in a timber train to be unfit to drive due to serious technical defects.

Railway infrastructure

The EBC is also active as a railway infrastructure company . Of the four routes taken over by Deutsche Bahn , however, two have now been closed and one is in the process of being closed:

The WAB became known among railway enthusiasts through the takeover of 18 electric locomotives of the DR series 242 from the bankruptcy estate of the Mittelthurgau Railway subsidiary Lokoop . In addition, diesel locomotives of the DR series V 60 , V 180 and V 200 in particular are being sold used. Most of the locomotives have now become the property of DP Deutsche Privatbahn GmbH , but they remain in service with WAB.
