The eyes of Laura Mars (OT: Eyes of Laura Mars ) is an American film by Irvin Kershner from 1978 with Faye Dunaway in the title role.

action

Laura Mars is a well-known and sought-after fashion photographer who specializes in erotic portraits of models in see-through dresses. It is controversial because it lets its models depict fictional violent crimes or as victims of them. This depiction of violence gives her pictures a special charm, but also attracts a serial killer, whose plaything she becomes. One night Laura dreams that her agent will be murdered. The dream becomes bloody reality. More murders occur, with the victims being her models or people who are friends with her. Laura witnesses the murders every time, and she can see through the eyes of the serial killer how he commits his crime. She is obviously connected telepathically to the perpetrator and is tormented by the visions of the bloody deeds. The photographer turns to the police, but initially she is not believed. Detective John Neville is initially suspicious of her, as some of the pictures in Laura's photography book "The Eyes of Mars" are amazingly similar to the police recordings of murders that actually took place. But soon he believes her that she is not involved in the crimes, but only witnessed them. A love relationship develops between the two. Together they try to identify the killer, not least because they fear that Laura could become a victim herself. Among others, Laura's ex-husband, who is back in New York, as well as her chauffeur and assistant, who was already imprisoned, are suspected. In the end, Neville turns out to be the killer himself when he breaks into Laura's apartment and first stabs his reflection in the mirror. Laura shoots him in self-defense and calls the police.
