David Zelag Goodman

David Zelag Goodman (born January 15, 1930 in Manhattan , New York City , † September 26, 2011 in Oakland , California ) was an American screenwriter .

Life

After attending school, he completed a degree in Drama at Queens College of the City University of New York . In 1954 he wrote the work for the stage High Named Today , that for a short time at Broadway theaters was played. He made his debut as a film script writer in 1959 with the script for the film The Stranglers of Bombay and then created the scripts for almost twenty other films and television series .

For the screenplay for Lovers and Other Strangers (1970) he was nominated together with Joseph Bologna and Renée Taylor for both the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 1971 Academy Awards and the Writers Guild of America Prize for Best Adapted Screenplay. Together with Sam Peckinpah he then wrote the screenplay for his film Who sows violence (1971).

In 1975 he wrote the screenplay for Farewell, My Lovely by Dick Richards and was for the Edgar Award nominee for the best screenplay.
