action

Mike Vecchio and Susan Henderson want to get married. The couple, who have been together for 18 months, are welcomed by the decision. Mike's father Frank, a hard worker with Italian ancestry, learns to his horror that his older son Richie, who has no children so far, wants to divorce his wife Joan. On the other hand, Susan's successful father Hal, an Irish Catholic, is forced to choose between her and his wife by his lover Cathy, his wife Bernice's best friend. Susan's sister Wilma is disappointed with her husband Johnny's sex performance and his nocturnal television addiction.

The night before the wedding, Mike and Susan arrange a blind date for Susan's cousin Brenda, one of the bridesmaids, with Mike's friend Jerry. Mike and Susan plan to spend their last night as a fiancé in a hotel bridal suite. Jerry tries to seduce the virgin Brenda, but her constant chatter spoils his pleasure.

The wedding ceremony touches the feelings of the participants. The nostalgic Frank confesses to his son an earlier affair. Cathy flees to the toilet full of tears, where she is comforted by Hal. Brenda and Jerry are finally sleeping together, as is Johnny and Wilma, who is delighted with Johnny's performance this time. However, the Vecchios' hopes for a reunion of Richie and Joan are not fulfilled. Mike and Susan, on the other hand, do not notice the emotional chaos around them and start their married life full of confidence.
