The Heulboje is an American comedy film from 1964. The alternative title is Der Wunderknabe .
action
The star of the film had a fatal accident while a film was being made. Without this star comedian, the film team is facing bankruptcy. The clumsy hotel boy Stanley seems to be the ideal substitute for the producers. You set about building the boy into a new comedy star. Stanley is only weird in everyday life, however, as soon as he is supposed to be funny according to a ready-made script, the opposite is the case. After a catastrophic rehearsal, the producers drop him again. Only Ellen, who ate a fool on the boy, continues to stand by him. When he is finally invited by the famous Ed Sullivan on his TV show, he becomes the new American comedian overnight. Now the producers are asking him to come back to them on his knees.
background
In addition to the aforementioned Ed Sullivan, several American stars appear as guests in this film. Some of them play themselves: George Raft , Hedda Hopper , Ed Wynn , Mel Tormé , Rhonda Fleming , Del Moore , Neil Hamilton , Buddy Lester , Jack Albertson . The Howling Buoy was also Peter Lorre's last film appearance . Lorre died of a stroke less than a month after filming was completed.
Reviews
"A silly film fun, which sparks little from its interesting constellation and which soon spreads boredom through an accumulation of poor jokes."
