action
Tina is part of the school choir The Hormone-iums , which sings about various aspects of puberty during lunch breaks . When the soloist Dottie Minerva falls ill with glandular fever , Tina takes on this role. The choir is supposed to sing about this illness in the school auditorium , but the song written for it contains the statements that the illness is transmitted by kissing and that one dies from it. A preview of the play on school television is interpreted there in such a way that it is bad to kiss Tina. Therefore, it is unloaded from Jocelyn's birthday party on the spin the bottle to take place. Since Mr. Frond has promised her that she can be a permanent soloist if she plays her role as directed, Tina finds herself in a bind. In a conversation between the two of them, her father Bob makes it clear that she is solely responsible for her mouth, namely what she says and who she kisses. She therefore ends her appearance with a speech in which she explains that Pfeiffer's glandular fever cannot be transmitted through kissing and that as a rule one does not die from it. Therefore she is no longer a soloist, but Jocelyn invites her back to her birthday .
Meanwhile, Linda holds an auction in the restaurant with items that have been left there by guests. A high heel is only auctioned when she puts a wine bottle in it and says that it is a wine shoe that is used to present wine. After several requests for wine shoes, she decides to sell more. The shoes required for this are too expensive, however, whereupon her daughter Louise has the idea of getting her landlord Calvin Fischoeder and his brother Felix as sponsors . To get their business idea closer, Linda, Bob, Louise and Gene put on a short Cinderella- inspired play, but both brothers refuse to participate. Linda later learns that her idea has been successfully marketed on the Internet for years .
reception
Alasdair Wilkins of the AV Club rated the episode “B +” and wrote that this episode “with the things that are most meaningful to Tina [represents] the episode's central conflict, between her desire to be a soloist and her still Weighs greater desire to kiss as many boys as possible. Becoming the face of Mr. Fronds like predictably insane anti-kissing campaign gives Tina's story a nightmare touch here, but the episode pans away so it's all about Tina navigating this mess. ”About the subplot he said that “the wine shoe store [...] is also very funny in terms of how it plays with the family's character dynamics. In particular, Louise to move away from being a silly Pläneschmiedin, all their ideas betray the fact that they, as we know, nine, and it is moving towards a prudent planner when she and Bob are equally surprised and annoyed when Linda absolutely fails to understand the significance of Fischoeders for their burgeoning business. "
For the script for this episode, Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux received an Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement, Writing in an Animated TV / Broadcast Production .
