The Normans (original title: I normanni ) is an Italian - French adventure film by Giuseppe Vari from 1962.

action

At the beginning of the 9th century the dreaded Normans landed on England's coasts. At that time, one of their tribes was pacified by Count Oliver d'Anglon and settled on the land of the count under the leadership of Olaf the Normans.

Many years later, Duke Wilfried had King Dagobert ambushed and captured by his soldiers disguised as Normans in order to finally gain the English throne as well as the royal treasure and the king's wife. He appends the deed to Count d'Anglon, who is thereupon sentenced to death. The Normans expelled from their land help the count to escape and go to war with him against the duke.

Svetiana, the daughter of Olaf the Norman and the Count fall in love, whereupon the Norman leader informs them that Svetiana is actually the daughter of King Dagobert, whom he found and adopted during a ship attack. When Svetiana is imprisoned by a traitor who tries to use her as leverage to persuade the king to give up the concealment of the crown treasure, the count sets out with Thor, the Norman, to free her. The project succeeds, but the daredevils and the king, who was also freed, are stuck in the ducal palace besieged by the enemy. The escaped Svetiana is able to alarm the Normans. She also reports to the Queen about the Duke's evil activities. The castle is stormed together by the troops of the Normans and the Queen, as a result of which the count can stab the treacherous Wilfried in a final duel. As a reward for his deeds, the king makes him duke. Out of gratitude, the Normans are granted the same rights as the English subjects.
