Rumplhanni is a German TV film from 1981 . It is based on the novel Die Rumplhanni by Lena Christ .
action
Johanna Rumpl, known as Rumplhanni, comes from a poor background and works as a maid for the house builder and has a relationship with the young farmer Simmerl. When he had to go to war in 1914 , Hanni lied to him that she was expecting a child from him. Simmerl promises to marry her when she returns home.
Rumplhanni already sees herself as a future farmer. Overcome by ambition, Hanni tries to surprise the house builder, Simmerl's father, with a written promise that she will become a farmer. At the last minute he recognizes Hanni's intentions and throws her from the yard. Hanni then tries her luck in town.
She finds a job as a kitchen helper in a Munich inn and approaches Ferdl, the son of the wealthy host family. But he doesn't want to know anything about her and so she finally gives in to the one-eyed butcher Hans' wooing. When Ferdl fell in 1915, she and the butcher Hans bought the inn.
