Horst Dallmayr

Horst Dallmayr (born February 9, 1927 , † December 18, 2012 in Dießen am Ammersee ) was a German literary scholar , writer , screenwriter , film director and film producer who was nominated for the Oscar for best documentary short film at the 1971 Academy Awards .

Life

Dallmayr completed after high school to study German literature and linguistics at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich and laid there in 1953 his doctorate Dr. phil. with the dissertation The style of Reinbot from Durne , in which he dealt with the Middle High German poet Reinbot von Durne . Dallmayr's book The Seven Candles (1962) was translated into Dutch by Jules Verstraeten under the title De zeven luehters: Een reis door de apokalyps .

He later worked mainly for television productions and wrote, among other things, the screenplay for the television film Ein Schweigen vom Himmel (1968) by Franz Josef Wild with Peter Pasetti , Paola Loew and Friedhelm Ptok based on a novel by Gertrud von le Fort . In 1969 he directed the short documentary Die Heilsame Allianz , for which he also wrote the screenplay.

He had international success as the producer of the 33-minute documentary short film Time Is Running Out (1970) by director Robert Ménégoz , with which he was nominated for an Oscar for best documentary short film in 1971 .

He then concentrated again on his work as a screenwriter and director of television films such as Ein Haus voll Zeit (1973) by Jeanpierre Heizmann with Constanze Engelbrecht , Martin Semmelrogge and Ruth-Maria Kubitschek , Olifant (1973), who, under his direction with Udo Kier , Vera Chekhova and Peter Lühr emerged in the main roles, as well as love letters made of blue paper (1979) by George Moorse with Robert Freitag , Gustl Halenke and Hans Korte , in which he processed Arnold Wesker's 1976 work Love Letters on Blue Paper .

The TV film Die Rumplhanni from 1981, which is based on the novel Die Rumplhanni by Lena Christ and directed by Rainer Wolffhardt with Monika Baumgartner as Rumplhanni, Maria Stadler as Rumplwabn and Karl Obermayr as the house builder, attracted more attention. For this, Dallmayr wrote the script together with director Wolffhardt.

Most recently, together with Didier Decoin , he wrote the screenplay for the 1984 television film Soldat Richter by Jean Pignol with Marie-Claire Achard , Götz Burger and Mathieu Carrière in the leading roles.
