The Weaknesses of Women (orig .: Elles ) is a film by the Portuguese director Luís Galvão Teles from 1997.
action
The film shows five women over 40 and their life stories in the middle of the picturesque backdrops of the old quarters of Lisbon. Unfulfilled or extinct love, the dramas and farces of life, and the joy of life are the connecting themes of the 5 friends. One of them is Linda, who asks her friends about their 3 wishes for her TV show. Linda has an affair with the younger director Gigi, which she complicates herself. The university professor Eva is widowed and struggles with doubts when she embarks on a passionate affair with the much younger student Luis, who is also the son of Barbara. The hypochondriac Barbara maintains a friendly and casual relationship with her divorced husband Edgar, although she feels differently. The aloof Chloé strives for a balanced life between her drug past and her hidden lesbian orientation. Actress Branca enjoys her tumultuous life while dealing with a conflicted relationship with her daughter.
