action
Christine Biondi is married and has a daughter and a son. But she is mistreated by her husband. Her brother Perry Sundquist is a lawyer who is also a depressed alcoholic. He is lying on the ground and therefore cannot help her. When his license is withdrawn, he thinks he is in the end. Then the police arrest Christine for the murder of her husband, even though they killed him in self-defense with a pistol. Additionally, she is not adequately defended as he is revered by everyone, including her lawyer. After all, the prosecution is also partisan on this matter and is doing everything possible to sentence you to death for willful planned murder . She is also lynched in the media.
All of this awakens Perry from his lethargy and he decides to do everything possible to defend her. This gives him a second chance in his job by allowing him to defend his sister in court for family reasons. He investigates the case and discovers inconsistencies. He also discovers that he threatened her with a large knife, which her son then hid to prevent him from actually using it one day. He then allies with a police officer who was involved in the matter before Christine's husband died and who is also convinced that he was abusing her.
During the investigations of the police officer, he is threatened by the responsible public prosecutor not to investigate the case any longer. He is even threatened to be fired because of it. Eventually, he finds definitive evidence confirming that she killed him in self-defense. So she is acquitted of murder, but convicted of manslaughter under milder circumstances. The judge is informed of what the prosecutor has done and it is hinted that she has a bleak future ahead of her. Perry stops being a lawyer after the case to look after her children while Christine is in jail. After a year, Christine is released from prison.
