Dieter Bitter-Suermann

Dieter Bitter-Suermann (* 12. December 1937 in Berlin ) is a German microbiologist and emeritus professors .

Life

As the brother of Hinrich Bitter-Suermann , he also studied medicine in Würzburg , Vienna and Göttingen . During his studies he joined the Corps Nassovia Würzburg . In Göttingen he passed the state examination in 1965 and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . He began his scientific training at the Institute for Medical Microbiology at the University of Mainz . There he completed his habilitation in 1972. Since 1976 he has been a senior physician, he has dealt with complement systems and inflammation mediators , especially with anaphylatoxic complement peptides and genetic complement defects. In 1987 he accepted the call to the C4 professorship for medical microbiology at the Hannover Medical School (MHH). From 1993 to 1997 he was the medical director of the university and spokesman for several special research areas . In 1998 he became chairman of the scientific advisory board of the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin.
