Dieter Breit

Dieter Breit (* 1961 ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian , pastor , church councilor and policy officer of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria .

Live and act

Breit studied journalism and worked for a long time as a copywriter and presenter for the evangelical film company EIKON and for Sat.1 . On behalf of the Bavarian Academy for Press and the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation , he conducted numerous training courses. He then studied Protestant theology in Erlangen and Tübingen . After his vicariate in Baldham , he worked as a parish pastor in Unterhaching from 1989 . In 1992 he became a consultant for the regional church office in Munich and, as press spokesman, founded their media department for the press, public and journalism departments. In October 2002 he took over the newly created position of regional church policy officer for relations between the church leadership and the Bavarian state parliament , the state government and for European issues. In this office he maintains close contact with the representative of the EKD Council for the Federal Republic of Germany and the EU as well as the representative's branch in Brussels. In May 2017 he was appointed to the Broadcasting Council of Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR).

Dieter Breit has been married to Susanne Breit-Keßler since 1998 and lives in Munich . He is the grandson of Thomas Breit .

Awards

  • 2008: Bavarian Constitutional Medal in Silver
  • 2015: Bavarian Constitutional Medal in Gold. The award honors Breits “meritorious pioneering work”. He has proven himself in crisis situations as a “sensitive dialogue partner and mediator” and has also made outstanding contributions to the pastoral care of politicians.
