Dieter "Pitter" Danzberg (born November 12, 1940 in Duisburg ; † December 28, 2019 ) was a German football player . In 1964 he was German runner- up with Meidericher SV and in 1966 with FC Bayern Munich - without commitment - DFB Cup winner.

Career

Dieter Danzberg went through the entire grades in the youth department of the Meidericher SV . In 1959 he won the West German Championship with the A-youth and received a contract for the Oberliga West for the season 1959/60 . Other players in his youth class, who were then also used in the Oberliga West and later in the Bundesliga , included Werner Lotz , Hartmut Heidemann , Werner Krämer and Heinz Versteeg . Under coach Willi Multhaup , the young Meiderich team unexpectedly managed to qualify for the reformed top division in 1963 and "Pitter" Danzberg, as he was only called by everyone, played a major part in this with his goals in the season's final spurt. On the third to last game day he scored the last two winning goals in a 3-2 win against SC Viktoria Köln and just a week later in front of 15,000 spectators in the city derby against Hamborn 07 the decisive goal for the 2-1 win in the 90th minute.

Also in the newly created top division Danzberg was part of the professional squad of Meidericher SV, where he was used for the first time for the MSV in this league on September 21, 1963 (5th matchday) in the 1-1 draw in the away game against Werder Bremen . With only seven appearances, Dieter Danzberg was second in the championship with Meiderichern in 1963/64 . In the following season he only made eight appearances, but on March 20, 1965 (24th matchday), in a 2-2 draw in the home game against Hertha BSC , he headed the interim 1-1 in the 20th minute .

In the 1965/66 season - eligible to play for newly promoted FC Bayern Munich - Danzberg was only used twice; curiously, on the first and last day of the season. In the city derby against TSV 1860 Munich , he received the red card in the 86th minute after a rough foul on Timo Konietzka - the first dismissal of a Bayern player in the history of the Bundesliga. The dismissal was followed by an eight-week suspension and he lost his position on the team to a young player - Franz Beckenbauer . At the same time he had problems with the ankle; it was operated on several times. Dieter Danzberg's time as a player in the Bundesliga ended where it began and with the same result: on May 28, 1966 (34th matchday), he did not make it 1-1 with Bayern Munich in the away game against Werder Bremen out. However, he was allowed to celebrate winning the DFB Cup with Bayern in 1966 - although not used in the cup competition .

For the 1966/67 season he moved to the Regionalliga West for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , scored four goals in 25 games in his first season and rose to the Bundesliga with Oberhausen at the end of the 1968/69 season . 1969/70 he played six point games for Freiburg FC in the Regionalliga Süd . In 1970/71 he let his career end after two games at Eintracht Gelsenkirchen , the newly promoted to the Regionalliga West.

Others

Since 2009 Danzberg suffered from Alzheimer's disease . For this reason, he moved to the “Maria Lindenhof” retirement center in Dorsten in 2012 , where his wife, who had dementia, also lived.
