Dieter M. Graef (born November 24, 1960 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German writer .

Life

Gräf is the son of a machine operator and an insurance employee . After high school studied it German , political science and philosophy at the University of Mannheim . At the same time, he worked as a journalist and worked on intermedia projects with performance artists , musicians and actors . From 1991 he lived in Cologne , but often stayed for work stays and the like. a. in the Netherlands , Scotland , the United States and India . - His polemics about the alleged decline of the Cologne literary scene, with which Gräf justified his move to Berlin in 2005 , sparked a lively debate among Cologne authors.

Dieter M. Gräf, who has been writing poetry since his school days, is primarily the author of highly artificial lyrical texts, in which the author's current experiences are constantly incorporated.

Dieter M. Gräf has been a member of the PEN Center Germany since 1996 . He received u. a. 1992 the advancement award for young artists of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate , 1993 the advancement award for the Leonce-und-Lena-Preis , 1994 the advancement award of the state North Rhine-Westphalia , also in 1994 and 2002 the Rhineland-Palatinate award book of the year , 1995 the Joseph- Breitbach Prize of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and Südwestfunk and the Rolf-Dieter-Brinkmann-Scholarship from the City of Cologne , 1997 the Leonce-und-Lena-Prize , 1999 a scholarship from the Villa Aurora in Los Angeles , 2004 a scholarship from the Villa Massimo , The Palatinate Prize for Literature in 2006 and the Martha Saalfeld Prize in 2009 .
