career

youth

The youth footballer from Columbia Berlin and Hertha BSC made his debut in the DFB's national student team at the age of 15 . He belonged to the attack of the German selection, which won the friendly international match against England on May 24, 1963 in Heilbronn with 3-1 goals. He stormed on the left wing, Horst Köppel on the right wing and Norbert Nigbur was the goalkeeper. The winger, who can be used on the left as well as on the right wing, was accepted into the German national youth team in 1964 thanks to his technical skills, flank quality and speed . Under the then responsible DFB coach Dettmar Cramer , the B-youth from Berlin made his debut on March 8, 1964 in Loerrach in the friendly international match against Switzerland in the DFB youth team. In the 2-1 win he stormed the right winger, Berti Vogts stood out as a defender and the left winger in the World Cup system at the time , Franz Beckenbauer , scored both German goals. At the 1964 UEFA youth tournament in the Netherlands, the young player was used on March 26 in Enschede in the game against Sweden (2-1). The second UEFA youth tournament with attacker Schollbach took place in Germany in April 1965. The DFB talents took fifth place out of 23 participants and had promising attacking footballers in action with Köppel, Walter Bechtold , Ludwig Bründl , Karl-Heinz Kamp and Schollbach. For his third participation in the UEFA youth tournament Schollbach came in May 1966 in Yugoslavia; he played the group matches against the Netherlands (2-1), Scotland (1-1) and Spain (1-3) and scored two goals. In their last international match with the A-Juniors of the DFB, the German offspring separated on June 29, 1966 in Kassel with a goalless 0-0 draw against Sweden. The attack was accompanied by the cast of Schollbach, Hans-Jürgen Hellfritz , Rainer Budde , Heinz Flohe and Friedhelm Strzelczyk . For the 1966/67 season, the offensive player signed a contract with Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach and moved to the Lower Rhine.

Bundesliga and regional league, 1966 to 1974

In addition to the Berlin junior, Herbert Wimmer , Vladimir Durković and goalkeeper Volker Danner joined the team of coach Hennes Weisweiler . Schollbach was unable to assert himself against the dangerous attackers Jupp Heynckes (15 goals), Herbert L Bäumen (18 goals) and Bernd Rupp (15 goals) and made his debut for the first time on matchday 28, April 15, 1967, in a 0-1 away defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga. With his second outing on May 27, 1967, in a 2-1 home defeat against VfB Stuttgart, the Bundesliga chapter was already over for Schollbach and he was drawn back to Berlin.

In the purple-white "violets" from the Charlottenburg district, Tennis Borussia Berlin, Schollbach stormed from 1968 to 1974 in the second division of the Berlin Regionalliga. After the runner-up in the 1969/70 season, he played all eight games in the Bundesliga promotion round against rivals Karlsruher SC, SV Alsenborn, Arminia Bielefeld and VfL Osnabrück and scored alongside teammates such as Hans Weiner , Peter Eggert , Gerd Wörmer , Georg Damjanoff and Gino Ferrin two goals. In early July 1971 Schollbach moved to SpVgg Bad Pyrmont for which he played on December 4, 1971 and December 15, 1971 in the DFB Cup against Werder Bremen. After a season in Bad Pyrmont, he returned to Tennis Borussia in 1972. He experienced the greatest success with "TeBe" in the 1973/74 season , when under coach Georg Gawliczek the championship in Berlin could be celebrated with 63: 3 points against the runner-up Wacker 04 Berlin with 53:13 points. The goalscorer at the Berlin champions were Norbert Stolzenburg with 33 and Reinhard Adler with 20 goals. The injury-prone Schollbach had scored four goals in 12 league games. In the subsequent Bundesliga promotion round, he came in the games against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (3: 1), FC Augsburg (2: 2), Borussia Neunkirchen (1: 1) and FC St. Pauli (3: 1). Tennis Borussia surprisingly prevailed and made it into the Bundesliga with 10: 6 points. Schollbach no longer went with the way to the Bundesliga, he let his high-class career fade away from the 1974/75 season in the amateur team of the "Veilchen". From 1968 to 1974 he played in the Regionalliga Berlin with 81 games and 24 goals.
