Dieter Bacon

Dieter Speck (born January 25, 1958 in Karlsruhe ) is a German medievalist and archivist .

Life

Speck attended the Helmholtz Gymnasium and the Humboldt Gymnasium in Karlsruhe. From 1977 to 1985 he studied Protestant theology and history in Tübingen with a state examination / teaching degree . After completing his doctorate (1986–1989) at the Institute for Historical Regional Studies and Historical Auxiliary Sciences with longer stays in Innsbruck , Colmar , Freiburg im Breisgau , Karlsruhe and Stuttgart and the archive clerkship (1989–1991) in Karlsruhe, Marburg and Koblenz , he was in the State Archives in 1991 In Freiburg . Since 1991 he has headed the university archive and since 2004 also the Uniseum Freiburg (university museum ).

Since 1997 he has been a lecturer at the history seminar. From 1997 to 2009 he was a board member of the Association of German Archivists and numerous other historical associations. From 2001 to 2009 he was chairman of the department for archives at universities and academic institutions. Since 2001 he has been a full member of the commission for historical regional studies in Baden-Württemberg and since 2008 a board member. Since 2009 he has been teaching as an honorary professor at the history seminar.
