Dietmar Nigsch (born June 17, 1951 in Bludenz , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian theater and film actor, founder and festival director of the biennial art and culture festival Walserherbst and director of the Vorarlberg project theater .
Life
Dietmar Nigsch grew up in the Grosses Walsertal in Vorarlberg, completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman and worked as a businessman, waiter and social worker. From 1981 to 1985 he completed an acting training at the Vienna Art School . At the same time, Nigsch was active as an actor at the Small Theater in the Urania in Vienna (1981–1982) and during the Wiener Festwochen street theater festival (1982). In 1983 he co-founded the basement theater Spielraum Wien and was involved from 1983 to 1987 both as an actor and as a workshop leader. He passed his stage entrance examination in 1986 in Vienna.
In 1988 Dietmar Nigsch and Sieglinde Müller founded the Vorarlberg Project Theater with Peter Turrini's play Wirtin in St. Gerold . In 1989 he took over the management of the ensemble, and from 1995 onwards he runs the project theater together with the Austrian theater and film actress Maria Hofstätter . The production of How much, Schatzi? by HC Artmann (director: Susanne Lietzow ) was awarded the Nestroy Theater Prize in 2006 for the best off-theater production. Other successful productions: The Presidents by Werner Schwab , Weiter Leben by Ruth Klüger , A beautiful rabbit is usually the single person by Philipp Weiss - with Dietmar Nigsch in the role of the gugging artist August Walla .
As an actor Dietmar Nigsch among others worked in theater room Vienna, Landestheater Vorarlberg , at the Phoenix Theater Linz and for the project Theater Vorarlberg. Numerous guest appearances in Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
The lack of local cultural supplies in the Großer Walsertal and the lack of engagement with artistic and cultural practice prompted Nigsch to found the Walserherbst in 2004. The biennial festival for contemporary art and culture takes place on three weeks in late summer in the Großes Walsertal Biosphere Park, Vorarlberg and combines tradition with contemporary culture. With his cultural commitment, Nigsch has had a lasting impact on the independent theater and culture scene in Vorarlberg.
