Dietmar Poszwa (born June 27, 1972 ) is a German entrepreneur . From 1999 to 2011 he was boxing promoter and managing director, partner and manager of Spotlight Boxing and an employee at Universum Box Promotion .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1992, Poszwa trained as a banker from 1993 to 1995. He then studied business administration in Hamburg from 1995 to 1998. Before he got into the boxing business, Poszwa worked from 1997 in the restaurants and arcades of his future father-in-law, Klaus-Peter Kohl .

Under the direction of Kohl, his career in the boxing business began in 1999, he initially managed the website of the Universum boxing stable, which was awarded by the ADC, the Art Director's Club .

In 2001, cooperations in the music business were expanded. As managing director of the newly founded UE Universum Entertainment GmbH (with Klaus-Peter Kohl and the Hamburg music producer Alex Christensen ), the first collaboration with Polydor was already in 2001 - at the boxing match Vitali Klitschko vs. Ross Puritty - Platinum rated, more than 300,000 albums sold. Projects with Meat Loaf and Bryan Adams followed, among others .

In September 2003 Poszwa founded the boxing stable Spotlight Boxing, but continued to work for Universum. Nevertheless, when it was founded, Poszwa emphasized that Spotlight was an “independent product” from Universum, although he also used the infrastructure and coach of his father-in-law Kohl's boxing stable. Poszwa was the first athlete to sign Dimitri Sartison and Egon Roth . Kohl's initial rejection of the project later changed, as the boxing stable also helps make the Universum boxers better known. Poszwa, who was to succeed Kohl's long-term successor at Universum, said that the dream goal for his boxing stable was "to fight for world championship titles with spotlight boxers in the four major associations".

During his time at Spotlight Boxing / Universum Box Promotion, Poszwa built the careers of numerous professional athletes, including Regina Halmich , Luan Krasniqi , Felix Sturm and Jürgen Brähmer . He was also responsible for the youth work. Poszwa's protégés included Gennady Golovkin , Marcos Maidana, Sebastian Zbik , Ina Menzer , Susianna Kentikian , Dimitri Sartison, Vitaly Tajbert and Firat Arslan .

Spotlight Boxing entered into contracts with the TV channels ProSieben , Eurosport and Sport1 , which broadcast the boxing matches, including the match between Regina Halmich and TV presenter Stefan Raab . Poszwa carried out boxing events in several countries, besides Germany also in Austria , Slovenia and the Czech Republic .

After the sale of Universum Box-Promotion, Poszwa continued to work with his father-in-law, Klaus-Peter Kohl. In 2010 they both joined Frank Blin's company, which runs “Hofbräu Wirtshäuser”. More such bars were opened in Hamburg and Berlin, and in 2018 Kohl and Poszwa took over the majority shares in the company.

Dietmar Poszwa has been married to Gaby Kohl, the daughter of Klaus-Peter Kohl, since 1999. The couple have a daughter and a son. Poszwa said in September 2003 that he had the ability to work “actually around the clock” from his father-in-law Kohl.
