Dino Cardinal Monduzzi (born April 2, 1922 in Brisighella , Province of Ravenna , Italy , † October 13, 2006 in Vatican City ) was a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Dino Monduzzi studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Faenza and at the Pontifical Athenaeum Lateranense in Rome and received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Faenza from Giuseppe Battaglia on September 22, 1945 . After further studies , he obtained his doctorate in law at the Pontifical Athenaeum Lateranense. He was involved in the Catholic Action , whose social mission he supported in operations in Calabria and Sardinia .

In 1959 he became secretary in the office of the Cardinal Chamberlain . As part of the reform of the Roman Curia , he was appointed Secretary of the Apostolic Palace in 1967. On June 5, 1970, Pope Paul VI awarded him . the title of Honorary Prelate to His Holiness .

On 18 December 1985 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Capreae and prefect of the Papal Household , which he was involved, among others, in the preparation of the many foreign trips of the Pope. He was ordained bishop John Paul II on January 6, 1986 in St. Peter's Basilica ; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Eduardo Martínez Somalo and José Tomás Sánchez .

On 7 February 1998, when he reached the age limit of 75, he resigned from his leadership duties as Curia Bishop. A few days later, on February 21, 1998, Pope John Paul II accepted him as a cardinal deacon with the titular deaconry San Sebastiano al Palatino in the college of cardinals .

At the 2005 conclave , in which Benedict XVI. was elected, he did not take part because at that time he had already reached the age of 80 and thus lost the active right to vote for the Pope .
