Diphenylsilanediol , Ph 2 Si (OH) 2 , is a chemical compound and one of the silanols . The molecule has a tetrahedral geometry. In the solid state, it forms hydrogen bonds .

Manufacturing

Diphenylsilanediol can be prepared from diphenyldichlorosilane by hydrolysis .

The action of phenyllithium on silica gel results in tetraphenylsilane and triphenylsilanol as well as diphenylsilanol.

use

Diphenylsilanediol can be used as an anticonvulsant . It works similarly to phenytoin .
