Director at the German Bundestag

The director at the German Bundestag is the superior of all employees of the Bundestag administration and heads the entire parliamentary administration.

The President of the German Bundestag is a representative of the parliament , but at the same time he is the head of the administration set up at the German Bundestag to support its work, a supreme federal authority. The President determines the principles for carrying out administrative business. In the parliamentary area, he is represented by a vice-president. In the parliamentary sphere, the director is only an advisor to the president. The director prepares the meetings of the presidium , the council of elders and the plenary . The function of the director is particularly underlined by the fact that he advises the incumbent president at plenary sessions on questions of parliament and rules of procedure. Until his appointment as State Secretary, the director was classified in salary group B 10 according to the federal pay scale and has since received the salary group B 11 customary for state secretaries.
