The Chaccho district is located in the Antonio Raymondi province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on October 26, 1964. It has an area of ​​72 km². The 2017 census counted 1433 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2439, in 2007 it was 1927. The district administration is located in the 3329  m high village of Chaccho with 462 inhabitants (as of 2017). Chaccho is located 6.5 km northwest of the provincial capital Llamellín .

Geographical location

The Chaccho district is located in the north of the Antonio Raymondi province. The district extends along the left bank of the Río Marañón, which flows west-northwest .

The district of Chaccho borders in the southwest with the district Mirgas , in the northwest with the district San Nicolas ( province Carlos Fermín Fitzcarrald ), in the north with the district Pinra ( province Huacaybamba ) and in the east with the district Llamellín .
