The district of San Juan de Rontoy is located in the province of Antonio Raymondi in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on May 27, 1987. It has an area of 102 km². The 2017 census counted 1217 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1608, in 2007 it was 1596. The district administration is located in the 3525 m high town of San Juan de Rontoy with 196 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Juan de Rontoy is located 8.5 km south of the provincial capital Llamellín .
Geographical location
The district of San Juan de Rontoy is located in the south of the province of Antonio Raymondi. The district is located west of the Río Puchca , left tributary of the Río Marañón .
The district of San Juan de Rontoy borders in the east and south on the district Aczo , in the west on the district Cajay ( province Huari ), in the northwest on the district Mirgas and in the north on the district Chingas .
