The Aczo district is located in the Antonio Raymondi province in the Ancash region of western Peru . The district was established on February 2, 1956. It has an area of ​​66.1 km². In the 2017 census, residents were counted in 2014. In 1993 the population was 2877, in 2007 2378. The district administration is located in the 2661  m high village of Aczo with 435 inhabitants (as of 2017). Aczo is located 6.5 km south-southeast of the provincial capital Llamellín .

Geographical location

The Aczo district is located in the extreme southeast of the Antonio Raymondi province. The district extends along the west bank of the north-flowing Río Puchca , left tributary of the Río Marañón .

The Aczo district is bordered to the west by the district of San Juan de Rontoy , on the north by the district Chingas , on the east by the districts Uco , Anra , Huacachi and Ponto and the south by the district Cajay (the districts five latter belong to the province of Huari ).
