The district of Chingas is located in the province of Antonio Raymondi in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on February 2, 1956. It has an area of 50.8 km². In the 2017 census, 1949 inhabitants were counted. In 1993 the population was 2422, in 2007 it was 2074. The district administration is located in the 2854 m high village of Chingas with 900 inhabitants (as of 2017). Chingas is located just under 3.5 km southeast of the provincial capital Llamellín .
Geographical location
The Chingas district is located in the central east of the Antonio Raymondi province. The Río Puchca , left tributary of the Río Marañón , flows north along the eastern district boundary.
The Chingas district borders in the south on the Aczo and San Juan de Rontoy districts , in the west on the Mirgas district , in the north on the Llamellín district and in the east on the Páucar ( Daniel Alcides Carrión province ) and Uco ( Huari province ) districts.
