The district Páucar , alternative spelling district Paucar , is located in the province of Daniel Alcides Carrión in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district was established on December 4, 1952. It has an area of ​​107 km². The 2017 census counted 1,871 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2887, in 2007 2235. The district administration is located in the 3350  m high village of Páucar with 583 inhabitants (as of 2017). Páucar is located 15.5 km northeast of the provincial capital Yanahuanca .

Geographical location

The district of Páucar is located in the Andean highlands in the northeast of the province of Daniel Alcides Carrión. It has a lengthwise extension in the WSW-ONE direction of 18 km and a maximum width of 13 km. The district is bordered in the south and east by the Río Chaupihuaranga and in the north by the Río Chacachuiche and its right tributary, the Río Llapac.

The district of Páucar borders in the southwest with the district Tápuc , in the west with the district San Miguel de Cauri ( province Lauricocha ), in the north with the districts Colpas and Cayna , in the northeast with the district San Francisco (the three aforementioned districts are in the province Ambo ) and in the southeast to the Chacayán district .
