The district of San Pedro de Pillao is located in the province of Daniel Alcides Carrión in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district was established on December 15, 1959. It has an area of ​​76.6 km². The 2017 census counted 1442 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1311, in 2007 1701. The district administration is located in the 3629  m high town of San Pedro de Pillao with 1166 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Pedro de Pillao is located 6 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Yanahuanca .

Geographical location

The district of San Pedro de Pillao is located in the Andean highlands in the north of the province of Daniel Alcides Carrión. It has a longitudinal extension in WNW-ESE direction of almost 15 km. The Río Chaupihuaranga flows north along the eastern district boundary and drains the area.

The district of San Pedro de Pillao borders in the south on the district Yanahuanca , in the north on the district San Miguel de Cauri ( province Lauricocha ) and in the east on the district Tápuc .
