The district of Santa Ana de Tusi is located in the province of Daniel Alcides Carrión in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district was established on January 12, 1956. It has an area of ​​285 km². The 2017 census counted 22,634 residents. In 1993 the population was 8,208, in 2007 it was 17,204. <The district administration is located in the 3445  m high town of Santa Ana de Tusi with 2704 inhabitants (as of 2017). Santa Ana de Tusi is located 18 km east of the provincial capital Yanahuanca .

Geographical location

The district of Santa Ana de Tusi is located in the Andean highlands in the far east of the province of Daniel Alcides Carrión. It has a longitudinal extent in north-south direction of almost 32 km and a maximum width of about 15 km. The Río Pampania, a tributary of the Río Chaupihuaranga, crosses the central part of the district in a northerly direction. The south of the district is drained to the northeast via the Río Tingo. In the southern part of the district there are several mountain lakes: Laguna Canteria, Laguna Piticocha, Laguna Estanco and Alcacocha (also Alqaqucha).

The Santa Ana de Tusi district is bordered by the Chacayán and Goyllarisquizga districts to the west, the San Francisco district ( Ambo province ) to the northeast, the Pallanchacra and San Francisco de Asís de Yarusyacán districts to the east, and the Simón Bolívar district to the south ( the last three in the province of Pasco ).
