The Santa Rosa de Sacco district is located in the Yauli province of the Junín region in central Peru . The district was established on June 1, 1968. It has an area of ​​101.09 km². At the 2017 census, 8,977 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 12,092, in 2007 11,297. The district administration is located in the 3845  m high town of Santa Rosa de Sacco with 8956 inhabitants (as of 2017). Santa Rosa de Sacco is located on the left bank of the Río Yauli 4.5 km southwest of the provincial capital La Oroya .

Geographical location

The Santa Rosa de Sacco district is located in the northeast of the Yauli province in the Andean highlands . The upper reaches of the Río Mantaro runs south along the north-eastern district boundary . Its tributary, Río Yauli, flows north along the southeastern district boundary. The district has a lengthwise extension in SW-NE direction of 15 km and a maximum width of 11 km.

The Santa Rosa de Sacco district borders the Paccha district in the north, the Junín district ( Junín Province ) in the northeast, the La Oroya district in the northeast and southeast, the Yauli district in the southwest and the Morococha district in the west .
