Dmitri Alexandrowitsch Tschwykow ( Cyrillic Дмитрий Александрович Чвыков; also Dmitriy Chvykov ; born October 14, 1974 in Alma-Ata ) is a former Kazakh- Kyrgyz ski jumper . He took part in two Winter Olympics.

Career

Tschwykow initially competed for the Kazakh team. He made his debut in international competitions at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , where he was 30th on the normal hill, 49th on the large hill and 11th in the team competition with the Kazakh team. After the Olympic Games, he switched from the Kazakh to the Kyrgyz team, where he started for the ski club of the capital Bishkek . After completing the one-year blocking period when changing associations in winter 1998/99, he started in the World Cup in winter 1999/2000, where he qualified for a World Cup competition for the first time on January 9, 2000 in Engelberg , in which he was 40th . In the summer of 2000 he also qualified at a Summer Grand Prix in Villach . In the following winter he was also able to qualify at the Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and finished in 41st place. He then took part in the 2001 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti , where he was 34th on the normal hill and 35th on the large hill. After he mastered the qualification in two Grand Prix competitions in the summer of 2001, he was able to qualify for several World Cup competitions in December of that year. On December 16, 2001 in Engelberg he just missed the points as 31st. After taking part in a Continental Cup in St. Moritz in between , he also took part in the Four Hills Tournament 2001/02, where he qualified again for the first round on January 4, 2002 in Innsbruck and finished in 41st place. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he was the only participant from Kyrgyzstan alongside the biathlete Alexander Tropnikov . At the opening ceremony he acted as the flag bearer. In the competitions he was 39th on the normal hill and 41st on the large hill. After the Olympic Games, he ended his career.

He is the most successful ski jumper in Kyrgyz history.
