Dominik Reinhardt (born December 19, 1984 in Leverkusen ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Most recently, Reinhardt trained the U-23 of FC Augsburg .

Career

society

Reinhardt is the son of the former German national soccer player Alois Reinhardt . He learned to play football at his father's club at the time, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, when he was 4 ½ years old. Further stations in his youth football days were FC Bayern Munich and TSV Höchstadt before he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg in 2000 .

1. FC Nuremberg

After continuing his training there, he made his first division debut on May 24, 2003 at the home game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Coach Wolfgang Wolf had appointed the then 18-year-old to the professional team for the first time for this game, in which 1. FC Nürnberg had already been relegated.

In the following second division season Reinhardt was part of the squad of the first team, but came only to ten missions because of the Abitur at the end of the season. In the 2004/05 season , after 1. FC Nürnberg had been promoted again, it took him some time to gain a foothold in the first Bundesliga. He was only used five times in the first half of the season, but then he played in the last eight games of the season in his regular position, the right side of defense. He also contributed two assists that year.

From 2005/06 Reinhardt was then a regular in the first division squad of 1. FC Nürnberg, for which he scored his only Bundesliga goal on October 22, 2005 in the game against Arminia Bielefeld . In the 2006/07 season , in which Nuremberg together with Schalke 04 had the best defensive row in the league, he was the only club player to play in every minute of the game in the cup and championship until matchday 27 before he had to be replaced injured. After four game days off he returned and played in the remaining games of the season as well as in the DFB Cup final on May 26, 2007. There he gave the template to the interim 1-1 and thus contributed to the cup victory of 1. FC Nürnberg.

The following season , however, was tragic for Reinhardt. He struggled with his form from the start, but kept playing because the substitute in his position, Lars Jacobsen , was injured. On matchday 25, he had more minutes than any other club player when he was not in the starting line-up for the first time in the season. After 23 minutes of play he was substituted on for the injured Jawhar Mnari . But already on the first attempt he tore a muscle fiber and had to be replaced immediately. This ended the season prematurely for him and he had to watch from the stands as 1. FC Nürnberg was relegated from the first division.

In the 2008/09 season he played for 1. FC Nürnberg in the 2nd Bundesliga and was also used there regularly in the first half of the season. When, during the winter break, Dennis Diekmeier was signed by Werder Bremen II for the right wing and the defense was reformed, Reinhardt lost his regular place and was only a substitute in the second half of the season.

FC Augsburg

On July 21, 2009, he was loaned to FC Augsburg for a year until June 30, 2010 , in order to strengthen the defensive network there. On July 31, he played his first competitive game in the first round of the 2009/10 DFB Cup . In the league, he was used in every game in the first half of the season. Even in the second half of the season he remained a regular player and top performer and had a share in one of the most successful seasons in the club's history, because Augsburg reached the cup semi-finals and the relegation to the First Bundesliga, where Reinhardt's former club Nuremberg retained the upper hand. On May 8, 2010 Reinhardt was firmly committed by FC Augsburg and signed a contract until 2013, which was valid for the first and second Bundesliga. The transfer fee should have been € 400,000. Shortly before the contract expired, Reinhardt and the association extended it for a further year, and a contract that would eventually expire on July 1, 2015 was not extended. At the beginning of 2016 it was announced that Reinhardt will support the reserve team of FC Augsburg as a playing assistant coach.

In August 2017, Reinhardt succeeded Christian Wörns as coach of the FCA U-23. On October 16, 2018, Reinhardt resigned in order to give a new impetus, according to his own statement. At that time the team was ranked 12th in the Regionalliga Bayern , which did not meet expectations.

National team

Dominik Reinhardt was also a German national youth player. After playing twice in the U20 in 2003/04, he was appointed to the U21 national team for the first time on August 15, 2006 by U21 national coach Dieter Eilts , in which he competed five times in a row before reaching the age limit.
